Marguerite Singapore Review: Michelin-Star Fine Dining Inside the Flower Dome at Gardens by the Bay

Some restaurants you book because the food is good. Others you save for the night you want to feel different from every other night. Is Marguerite one to hold back for an anniversary? Or is the Flower Dome a pretty frame around an expensive meal?

From everything I’ve learned about it during my visit earlier this year, this Michelin starred Marguerite is the rare place where the setting and the creative cuisine carry equal weight. That’s why I’d keep it for a milestone or a special occasion.

  • Date Rating: ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ (Exceptional date experience)

  • Best for: Anniversaries, proposals, milestone birthdays and long celebratory lunches or dinners

  • Atmosphere: Calm, elegant garden-conservatory fine dining, with flowers and greenery all around you inside the Flower Dome at Gardens by the Bay

  • Price: $$$$. Lunch at S$148++ per person, Signature Tasting Menus at S$288++ per person, with wine pairing extra

  • What to Wear: Smart and elegant, plus a warm layer. The Flower Dome sits around 20°C and can drop to 16°C, so a shawl, light knit or blazer will keep you comfortable.

What It Feels Like for Two Inside the Flower Dome at 18 Marina Gardens Drive

Warm lighted hallway with rounded dining tables alongside trees and plants to set up the mood

The first thing to understand about Marguerite Singapore is that you’re dining inside the Flower Dome at Gardens by the Bay, not beside it. Plants and flowers sit close to the room, so the view is green and near rather than distant and glittering like the Marina Bay Sands skyline. After a few skyline restaurants, I find that kind of setting gentler. It feels less like a show you’re watching and more like a garden you’ve been invited into.

The room itself is full of small, considered details. There are marble tables and Scandinavian-style furniture, and the food arrives on handcrafted ceramics. Three kitchen islands sit within the dining space, so you can watch dishes being plated without the clatter of a full open kitchen in your ear. I would describe the room as serene and relaxing, which matters on a date. You can lean in and talk without competing with a DJ or a crowd at the bar.

Then there’s the cool air. In Singapore, stepping into 16 to 20°C feels like a small escape from the heat. Bring something warm, though, because it gets surprisingly cold. Draping your jacket over someone’s shoulders halfway through dinner can be quite a nice moment, but only if you planned for it.

For larger celebrations, there’s also a private dining room that seats up to 10 guests, with bespoke menus on request.

What I’d Eat Here: Chef Michael Wilson’s Michelin Star Creative Cuisine and Tasting Menus

Chef Michael Wilson is from Melbourne. He earned a Michelin star at Phénix in Shanghai before opening Marguerite Singapore, which now holds one Michelin star in the 2026 Michelin Guide Singapore. His Modern Australian cooking is built on produce, provenance and seasonality, and the tasting menus change often. Earlier 2026 menus featured coral trout with Obsiblue prawn, carrot and vadouvan, but it isn’t on the current one.

Fine dining experience in Marguerite featuring their Signature Menu serving wide variety of fine dining dishes

On the menu during my visit earlier in the year, The Signature Menu (S$288++) is the one I’d choose for an anniversary dinner. A long run of courses gives an evening a natural rhythm, with time to talk between plates. It opens with wild red kangaroo pho, which is playful and a good conversation starter. The Spencer Gulf kingfish crudo comes with golden beetroot, finger lime and buttermilk. The course I’d most look forward to is the smoked eel with Coffin Bay oyster, seablite, karkalla and Amur caviar. Michelin singles it out too.

Later, the Charcoal-grilled Manjimup marron tail with lemon myrtle beurre blanc and old man saltbush, S$38 supplement. The aged Kinross Station lamb saddle comes with morel mushroom farci, wild garlic and aubergine. If you want a richer celebration, the 2GR full-breed MB9+ Wagyu sirloin is also a S$38 supplement. I want to praise the different textures and techniques across the meal. It’s creative cuisine that still feels cohesive, a menu that seems to celebrate craft without showing off.

Save room for the Marguerite “Opera” dessert cake and the pastries and chocolates afterward. It’s a lovely, slow way to end a delicious meal.

Two tall wine glasses with yellow wine liquid inside in dimmed environment

For drinks, sommelier wine pairings on the Signature Menu run S$98++ for three pours, S$138++ for four and S$198++ for six. The S$148++ lunch has a S$98++ sommelier wine pairing and a S$48++ temperance pairing made with clarified juices and fermented teas. I love that a non-drinking partner gets something just as thoughtful in the glass.

The Service Factor at This Michelin Star Restaurant

Michelin describes the service at Marguerite Singapore as personable and polished, and other guest reviews say much the same, and honestly, I couldn’t agree more. The team was knowledgeable, warm and attentive without being intrusive. Chef Michael Wilson and the front-of-house staff make guests feel welcome rather than stiffly formal. On a special occasion, that warmth is what turns a beautiful meal into a memory. One recent guest did report a less friendly experience, but it stands out as an exception.

One Thing That Works, One Thing to Know About Marguerite at Gardens by the Bay

What Works

The whole experience flows like an itinerary. A reservation includes complimentary Flower Dome access through Marguerite’s own entrance at 18 Marina Gardens, so you can stroll among the flowers before or after your meal. Few places in Singapore give you a garden walk, a calm room and a Michelin-starred tasting menu in one booking.

What to Know

It asks a lot of you. The price is high before pairings, and the room is cold. The kitchen also can’t cater to vegan, dairy-free, gluten-free, egg-free or allium-free diets, and children under 12 aren’t accommodated. Check these before you visit, especially if your date has dietary needs.

Who Should Book Marguerite Singapore at Gardens by the Bay

Take them here for: An anniversary, a proposal or a milestone birthday, when you want a long, unhurried meal surrounded by flowers inside the Flower Dome.

Probably skip it if: You’re planning a casual first date, need a quick dinner or have dietary restrictions the kitchen can’t meet.

If you’re still at the first-date stage, start somewhere lighter. For more posts on making that first dinner feel easy, see our guide to the unspoken rules of a first dinner date.

Make the Date Better: Location and Getting There

Getting there takes more planning than most restaurants, so arrive calm rather than flustered. I’d book a Grab to 18 Marina Gardens Drive, Main Arrival Zone 1 – Orange near Marina Bay Sands. Then take Marguerite’s complimentary buggy from the Gardens by the Bay Main Entrance. It runs about every 10 minutes from 11:30am, with no service between 4:30pm and 5:30pm. The restaurant advises against driving for dinner because of traffic and parking congestion. Bayfront and Gardens by the Bay MRT both involve a roughly 15-minute unsheltered stroll.

Lunch runs Thursday to Sunday and dinner Wednesday to Sunday. Remember the 48-hour cancellation window, since late changes cost S$100 per person.

Marguerite Singapore offers an extraordinary fine dining experience where exquisite Modern Australian cuisine meets the serene beauty of the Flower Dome. Perfect for romantic celebrations and special occasions, or just a random Saturday dinner date, it promises an interesting and memorable evening filled with creative flavours, impeccable service, and an immersive garden setting.
